If you have a garden, pour the used oil into a container (the original container it came in new is good) and leave it in your garden shed or garage. When you have finished removing all the dirt from your tools after a day's gardening, wipe on with a cloth or a piece of 0000 steel wool enough of the old cooking oil to give a good protective coating all over the metal parts of each tool. If you buy good tools to begin with and treat them like this after each use, you will find you end up spending a lot less on tools in the long run.

Put it in an old coffee can (when it has cooled down) put can if freezer, when it is full then put it in garbage, make sure that it is closed properly and also make sure that when you add it each time that you have let it cool down
Put it in an old container you're throwing away (like from liquid laundry detergent or a milk jug) and throw it away
Strain the lumps out of it and you can run a diesel engine on it.
