What are some ways to get my family off of foreign oil?

I don't care at all about global warming. The more carbon dioxide the better. the only real concern is oil demand and the fact that we don't even want to produce our own energy. so i want to be self reliant for my family, any suggestions?





the only thing i thought of was walking everywhere. stupid environmentalists ruin my way of life.What are some ways to get my family off of foreign oil?
We are about to come out with a clean abundant environmentally cheap alternative energy source that going to sweep the world so relax kick back your not going to have to give your money to all the foreign oil sheiks that are buying weapons to kill us with.





I believe you to there is plenty of oil . I believe its all about the money and what there doing with it is what the oil shortage is all about . Those people are living like kings and we are living like peasants and they keep wanting more more and more .What are some ways to get my family off of foreign oil?
You have a big problem there.





You must realize all plastics are a biproduct of the oil industry, The chemicals which grow your food are from the oil industry. If you have oil fired power stations in the states then all american production is done with oil. I assume you don't buy any foriegn goods, seeing as they use foriegn oil in thier production.





It's amazing how many imports are coming from abroad. Other than making biodiesel, I can't imagine what you are going to do.

Other ways to use less petroleum...


-Buy less petroleum products


-Reuse plastics and other petroleum products


-Use heater as little as possible


-Turn down your water heater a couple degrees


-Replace your bulbs with energy saving bulbs


-Eat locally grown food (doesn't support the fuel needed to ship the food from far away)





Now you sound like an environmentalist ;)

What kind of uneducated statement is that. Do you know what oil is, where is comes from and why it is there in the first place. Nothing on this planet is infinite. We are riding the oil wave and everything depends on it, soon this will change and oil reserves will be depleted, at least accessible ones anyway. I find it disturbing that you would make such a statement, it means that ignorance is well and truly alive in our world. Environmentalists are the only thing standing in the way of big corporations and oil companies ruining every corner of our planet. Lets get educated!
